Label evidence laboratory
Dog and cat food ingredients: read what the label actually states.
Use ingredient lists and analytical values as recorded—not as a quality score. This audit shows what the open label source actually contains, then separates legal label context, official alert identity and commercial availability. A missing field is not a zero, and a barcode alone is not corroboration.

The label decision
Can these two foods be compared fairly?
- IdentityBarcode, product name, brand and pack must describe the same item.
- BasisAs-fed percentages need moisture before dry-matter comparison.
- CoverageProtein alone is not a complete analytical declaration.
- PurposeComplete, complementary and dietetic labels are not interchangeable.
Federal label fields start with exact identity
FDA identifies core federal label information including product identity, net quantity, manufacturer or distributor and ingredients in descending order by weight. HungryPets preserves the market and pack date.
Read FDA pet-food guidance ↗A label reference is not product approval
AAFCO explains guaranteed analysis, ingredients, nutritional adequacy, feeding directions and calories. It creates model language but does not regulate, approve, certify or endorse a pet food.
Read the AAFCO label guide ↗Ingredient categories can be broad
UK guidance allows some pet-food ingredients to be declared by category. HungryPets does not expand a broad category into ingredients the label never supplied or apply UK wording to a US pack.

What may be reused—and what it proves
FDA + state oversight
Federal requirements and state enforcement are market context, not independent proof of a specific product formulation.

API and reuse terms ↗Completeness is not correctness, nutritional adequacy, safety or suitability. No open-label row is promoted unless it also has an exact GTIN, a substantive five-field label and at least two governed commercial identity observations; those observations do not validate the label facts.
