For a US product, start with FDA Recalls & Withdrawals and the FDA outbreaks and advisories page. For a UK product, start with the Food Standards Agency alert page. Check the reference, published or modified date and current status in the relevant source.
A saved screenshot or search result can be useful context, but the live authority page is the decision source because notices can be extended, corrected or withdrawn.
Match all available identity fields
Compare the exact product wording and pack size. Then match every supplied production identifier: batch or lot code, barcode, best-before date and use-by date. Do not substitute a similar flavour, range or pack.
If the notice does not provide a field, mark it unavailable. If your pack code is unclear or the notice is ambiguous, use the manufacturer or authority contact route shown in the notice.

Follow the authority’s action text
The official notice states the reason for the recall and what consumers should do. HungryPets links to that instruction rather than paraphrasing it into a generic rule.
If there is an immediate health concern about a person or animal, use the appropriate professional or emergency route. This site is an evidence index and does not assess symptoms or exposure.
Do not treat absence as safety clearance
The HungryPets stored openFDA view is an intentionally narrow enforcement cross-check, not a complete US recall list. The separate UK snapshot begins with FSA alerts available through the API from January 2018 and applies a bounded pet-use filter.
A product not appearing in either local snapshot has not been cleared. Search the live official system, especially for a recent event or an alert that may use unexpected wording.
